Lonavala is famous throughout India for the hard candy sweet known as chikki and is also a major stop on the rail line connecting Mumbai and Pune. For Mumbai suburbs local trains are available from Karjat It is also an important town on the Mumbai-Pune road link. Well, I've been to Lonavala quite a number of times. And I have to say that I had a great experience there. Lonavala is simply an awesome place. The best time to visit to Lonavla is during monsoon season as it is the only period when countryside turns lush green with waterfalls and ponds. Pristine woods and valleys, gushing waterfalls, historic caves and scenic vistas are some of the prime attraction of this place. Lonavala is also highly popular among celebrities and industrialists alike. And to add to it, Khandala, another popular tourist spot is just 5 k.m. away from it.
I will visit it again and again that is for sure. And I think everyone who is coming to Mumbai or Pune, must visit this scenic splendour once.
