Baneshwar - The most exciting picnic spot in Pune

Continuing where we had left, this time we have come up yet again with another exciting place, not to be missed at all. We all know that Pune is abundant with natural beauties. We have seen some of the most beautiful places here in Pune in most of our previous posts. Today, we will be exploring one more such place - Baneshwar.

Located among fabulous green locales, Baneshwar is a must see place for anyone coming to Pune. The breathtaking landscape with resonating waterfalls, makes you feel like being in heaven. Baneshwar, to be more specific is mainly famous for the Shiva temple which is located 35 km to the south Pune off Pune-Satara road. This Shiva Temple was built by st Bajirao Peshwa centuries ago. There are idols of Lord Shiva, Devi Laxmi and Lord Vishnu in this temple, which is a huge attraction among local as well as international tourists. Today the temple is maintained by the Baneshwar Temple Trust, who have looked after the temple, and also provided for basic amenities for visitors at the site.

Now, if you are looking to visit this place then make sure that its rainy season otherwise you will be missing the whole excitement. This rainy season is the perfect season to be here in this place because the lush forests and the streams around the temple can be experienced in their true element. However, as the peak season it does tend to get too crowded. So for those who want enjoy a quiet day of solitude at the temple, there is always time during the rest of the year.
