Yes, it is the one and only German Bakery, one of the most hot and happening spots in Pune. Germany Bakery is located in Koregaon Park, the place which is well known internationally for the world famous Osho International Meditation Centre or say, Osho Ashram.
German Bakery was opened in 1987 by a person named Mr. Ram Gopal Karkee. After spending some years in Germany, he decided to come back to India and start his own restaurant in Pune. As he was a great lover of German recipes, he decided to serve the same through this restaurant. Within a month or so, his German Bakery became popular like anything. It became an instant hit with young and old alike. Today German Bakery is hugely popular among locals as well as foreigners. People especially from Europe come here in large numbers to visit this iconic restaurant. It is place which is known to be offering great value for money to its customers by serving healthy food items. Some of the most prominent recipes being served here are - hummus sandwiches, tofu-burgers, avocado rolls, salads, fresh juices, fruit lassi and luscious desserts. It also makes the best bread in town. It provides a very nice meal of Spanish omelettes, Danish pastry and herbal tea. A special mention should be given to the ‘Kambhucha’ drink which is a fermented preparation. It is a popular drink amongst Germans and is one of the best selling items in the bakery.
Having been myself gone there in the past, I must say that this place rocks! The atmosphere looks to be electrifying always. One more thing I would like to add here is that I have never been through any place like German Bakery which has such unique ambiance and a personal touch. The food of course is unique and there is plenty of variety to choose from. Truly one of the best places in Pune to hangout with your friends and everyone.
